Mitchell Starc becomes fastest to take 100 ODI wickets

After 3-0 loss in Test series finally Australia won the match, defeating the host by three wickets in the first ODIs.  Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first, they managed to restrict Sri-Lanka on 227 in 50 overs. Another brilliant performance by Mitchell Starc and James Faulkner, Mictchell Starc got the wicket of Kushal Parera in first over, he ended with 32-3 in his 10 overs. James Faulkner got 4 wickets.

Mitchell Starc achieved the fastest 100 wickets milestone in this match. He just took 52 matches to take 100 wickets in ODI, fastest by any player. He broke the record of Saqlain Mushtaq, who reached there in 53 ODIs. Previous fastest for Australia was Bret Lee who reached in 55 ODIs.

Irfan Pathan has the record to take the fastest 100 wicktes in ODI for India. He took 59 matches.

Dinesh Chandimal became the fourth player to score fifty or more in five consecutive innings for Sri Lanka in ODIs. The ones to do it before him were Sanath Jayasuriya (in 1997), Tillakaratne Dilshan (in 2013) and Kumar Sangakkara (in 2014). Chandimal’s score in last five ODIs read 52, 62, 63, 53 and 80*.

Australia chase the maximum score in Sri-Lanka.
