The Indian team climbed to No. 1 spot in the ICC Test rankings after Sri Lanka won against Australia 3-0 in the home series on Wednesday. Before this series Australia was on first spot, they lost the series with 3-0 and slipped down to the 3rd spot, India won the series against the West-Indies (still one match to go) and climbed to the first spot.

Both continued the inning for 21 overs, they scored 77 runs. After that it was D Perera who gave the 1st break to get the rid of Shaun Marsh, and thats enough for Herath. He got 2 wickets in same over by dismissing to captain Steven Smith and Adam Voges. On the other hand warner was doing good but Perera got the Warner’s wicket.

Herath took 7 wickets in this inning. He already took 6 wickets in the first inning and ended with 28 wickets in this series. He was rewarded with the Man of the match and Man of the Series.

Herath’s spin bowling and  some youngster performance gave chance India to move on the first place in Test ranking.

India is on the top with 112 points, followed by Pakistan 111 points and then Australia and England on 3rd and 4th respectively with 108 points.

To retain the first spot India needs to win the next match that they will be playing against West-Inides which begins on Thursday (August 18).

Their failure to win the fourth Test will give chance to Pakistan to the top spot for the first time.

If India wins they will be end this series with 112 points, one more than the Pakistan (111), but if India fails then they will be slip to 2nd with 110 points.
